SAMPO KURPPA is the  Finnish clown of this month chosen by this Finnish Clown Academy –weblog called Pelleopisto.  I saw two of his performances during European Juggling Convention (EJC2010 Finland) in Joensuu and  I was totally astonished.  First he made a juggling act in the Open Stage -show and then he was performing with the Agit Cirk  -group.  I think that  Sampo Kurppa is the Finnish Buster Keaton.  He has been performing in Finland, France, Scotland, Norway and in Denmark and now Sampo is going to travel to New Zealand:

Hereby I´ll introduce some other clowns I met in EJC2010:

Clown called Concertino played his small concertina during the opening parade and people were dancing and clapping with their juggling clubs around him.

It is possible to see and hear of him more on Finnish TV-channel.  I´ll inform about the date  later on at Pelleopisto.

Kevin teached us some nice magic tricks and also ballooning.  He´s busy with his Community Circus:

Iman Lizarazu was practicing flying hats in the same time as me.  She could even catch them behind her back:

Rumpel  - who calls himself also as the Wordly Kangaroo Fool  of Oz - made a record with his 26,5 hour show in the Renegade-tent. Below you can see a photo of Rumpel´s performance taken by Luke Burrage. http://www.lukeburrage.com/blog/archives/972

I was  told that Rumpel has taken his name out of a German fairytale called Rumpelstiltkin:

During the convention I had a pleasure also to meet clowns from Luxemburg and Germany.  Unfortunately they do not have an webpage of their own but luckily I got their email-adresses. Also Andreas from Denmark said he does some clowning.  We were sitting with him in patch control during one Open stage –show. I almost forgot the first clown I met in EJC2010 - Marta Carbayon alias CantaClown - who had her amusing family also with.  You can see her making faces in http://www.cantaclown.dk.   Later on I´ll release a photo of Klaus, who made a workshop with Kevin about making clowning a business. So we were some eleven clowns alltogether having a good time in EJC2010 Finland

Making contacts is a very essential skill for a clown.  In September there will be held a special cruise for amateur theatre enthusiasts.  Last year the number of them was about 500 people.  If you are willing to perform there, please make a contact before 13th of August.  Please click “yhteystiedot”:

Normally this Pelleopisto-weblog is written on Thursdays in Finnish. Sometimes in these PELLEOPISTO-articles  there will be a link marked with green colour, which leads you to see some amusing video. I´ll also release weekly seven principles which can help you making people laugh. I´ve collected about a thousand of them. They are devided into 16 sections:

Appearance

Action

Fantasy

Knowing

Quilt

Surprise

Continuity

Relativity

Contrast

Requisite

Questionable humour

Verbal humour

Comical charasteristics

Comical phases of life

Status

Exaggerated emotions

If you think that it would be useful to get all of those thousand ridiculous principles translated also in English, so please write it  down as a comment in this weblog. Also if you know some interesting clowning websites in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese or French, it would be nice to get their addresses.

This time I´ll reveal the Chart of Emotions where you can find 121 emotions. Just try to overdo each of them:

I got a recommendation for this Chart of Emotions also from a world renowed clown teacher Avner Eisenberg.

If anyone of you who attended  in Koen`s clown workshop  in EJC2010 was surprised  why everybody started to laugh at me, the secret was in my free exhale.  Avner told this clown trick in his clownworkshop in Jyväskylä. His website is really worth of studying:

I would become very happy if you´d have time to write a comment.
